Size and scope aside, those numbers contrast starkly with what increasingly appears to be our intractable, perhaps permanent federal budget mess. But for the most part it’s not the product of Idaho legislators or the chief executive being any smarter or better at budgeting for an enterprise as large and diverse as government has become. It is, by and large, the result of a state process that more highly prizes efficiency, fiscal responsibility and the importance of predictability to individual taxpayers, their families, and employers..
Perhaps most intriguingly, “Incredibles 2” is both pop culture eye candy and a sly critique of it albeit one delivered in the form of the bad guy, who rails against the mediation of screens as a poor substitute for unfiltered life experience. I don’t need to tell you who wins here, but it’s refreshing to see a movie sequel that can question its own existence, even as it revels in it. (A movie theater marquee advertises “Dementia 113” in the background of one shot, a sight gag that evokes the kind of throwaway joke you might see on “The Simpsons,” for which Bird once worked.).
And regarding the box, it’s not the core music package. The core music is available for a few dollars. So why complain? You can’t afford it? But you already said it’s full of stuff that’s unimportant. The show circuit of animals is debatably bad for their health anyway since travel exposes them to diseases and other risks, and the “breed standards” are really arbitrary for any kind of animal and dont include things like actual health. Its more about the form of the animal. They arent checking if your animal has a recessive heart problem or is a mentally well adjusted at those shows, they are checking to see if its legs are exactly XYZ inches high and his eyes are set the right way according to someone years ago who decided thats what it should look like.
“And so naturally anyone feeling like that is going to do all sorts of things to get out of that uncomfortable state, like lashing out or going on a walk to cool down. But one really great way is validation. Knowing that the world we live in is a that there are other people who think the way I do.”.
